All the farms managed under the SAGE umbrella are centred on the principles of ‘permaculture’. While ensuring that no harm is inflicted on the person planting or consuming, permaculture focuses intensely on ensuring the soil that food is grown on is constantly nurtured. Our farms are a bio-diverse forest carrying a variety of species of vegetables, fruits and animals, existing in harmony. We produce our own homemade fertilisers through composting and make natural pesticides to avoid usage of harmful chemicals. We reproduce seeds on our farm and use native seeds to ensure greater flavour for the vegetables.
When it comes to Cattle & Poultry, both have an important role in keeping the ecosystem thriving. Cows are an integral part of any natural farm as their excretion is critical to the nourishment of the soil. Our farms host both buffaloes and cows; The milk produced by these animals is used in the café to prepare beverages, ice creams, cheeses and more. As for our free-range chickens, they are allowed to graze throughout the farm and feed on the natural flora & fauna, absolutely stress free. Free range birds tend to feed on insects that are often harmful to the crop; This symbiotic relationship allows the fruits and vegetables to grow while ensuring a good protein dosage for the animals.
